Rais Aam of PBNU, K.H. Miftachul Akhyar, offered prayers for the successful leadership of the elected president for 2024-2029, Prabowo Subianto, as he takes on the significant and challenging mandate over the next five years.
“Let us pray that he can successfully carry out this great, heavy, and challenging mandate,” said Miftachul Akhyar during the PBNU halal bihalal event in Jakarta, on Sunday (29/4).
He then quoted the words of the scholar Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal Rahimahullah, emphasizing the importance of praying for and hoping for a just leader. A just leader will bring blessings in life here and in the hereafter.
“If I had a prayer that could be answered, I would dedicate it to government officials, to the rulers, because if prayed for, and then they perform their duties well, it is the people who benefit,” Miftachul Akhyar remarked.
Prabowo is also prayed to be a leader who can act justly towards his people over the next five years. He believes that the steps of struggle initiated with goodness will receive blessings.
“With the wealth that our country possesses, blessings will be distributed evenly. Those who begin their struggle with goodness will also feel its brilliance at the end of their mandate. Hopefully, this can be achieved by Prabowo-Gibran,” he said.
He also expressed his gratitude that Prabowo was elected as the country’s leader. He admitted to knowing Prabowo well since his time as a manager at PBNU East Jakarta and serving as Deputy Rais Aam.
“I have known him since I was at PBNU East Jakarta, still a Deputy Rais Aam, perhaps around 1996-1997 when he came to a seminar at PBNU. I heard how amazing his guidance was, brilliant, and very much needed in the times to come,” he said.
Moreover, Miftachul Akhyar also admired Prabowo for his commitment to seeking guidance and directions from NU.
“Even in 2013, I was invited to Hambalang with him. At that time, he stated that all members of the council from the Gerindra faction were instructed to visit PBNU, asking for guidance from PBNU,” he recalled.
“It’s incredible to think that Gerindra, a party not born out of PBNU, felt so connected to NU and always sought guidance from PBNU, and God willing, this commitment continues to this day,” he added.
Deputy Rais Aam of PBNU, K.H. Anwar Iskandar, who was also present at the event, prayed for the president-elect and vice-president-elect for 2024, Prabowo-Gibran, to be granted ease and safety in leading the country for the people.
“Let’s pray that Mr. Prabowo and Gibran may always be granted health by Allah, safeguarded by Allah, successful in leading this nation by Allah, and blessed with protection and approval from Allah, amen.”
