Jakarta — Political observer Ujang Komarudin responded to several foreign institutions that have recently started to scrutinize the new government programs of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Ujang believes that these foreign institutions seem to dislike it if Indonesia becomes a prosperous country.
Recently, some foreign institutions have scrutinized the Prabowo-Gibran programs, including the giant investment bank and financial services provider headquartered in New York, Morgan Stanley.
Morgan Stanley downgraded its investment rating in the Indonesian capital market due to the weakening rupiah and promises made by Prabowo Subianto during his campaign, such as free lunch and milk programs for students which are seen as potentially causing “a large fiscal burden.”
“If we observe, the foreign intentions are always to belittle Indonesia, always scrutinizing the new Prabowo-Gibran programs because it is more about foreign fears or paranoia towards Indonesia,” said Ujang to reporters on Thursday (27/6).
Ujang mentioned that the free nutritious meal program that has recently been scrutinized by foreigners could actually improve the economic well-being of Indonesian people, especially those in need.
“If we look at it, they (foreign parties) scrutinizing the Prabowo-Gibran programs seem to show hatred towards the people and the fate of the Indonesian nation. They do not want to see Indonesia prosper,” continued Ujang.
Recently, financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank have also scrutinized the free nutritious meal program.
Ujang also quoted a statement once made by the first President of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno, regarding ‘If you are looking for a leader, look for one who is hated, feared, and vilified by foreigners, because that is the right one.’
“We talk about Bung Karno (Soekarno) once advising to look for a leader who is hated because that’s the right one. Now, the leadership of Prabowo is being scrutinized and hated by foreigners because Prabowo is right, not submissive to foreigners,” Ujang emphasized.
“The foreign condemnation and hatred towards Prabowo are the key that he is a true leader with a knightly spirit,” he added.
