Jakarta – Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, along with President Jokowi, enthusiastically watched the spectacular display of the Indonesian Navy’s troop demonstration in the waters of Jakarta Bay on Saturday (28/9).
Both of them witnessed the parade of naval weaponry on the sailing pass of Indonesian Navy warships and other naval equipment on the KRI dr Radjiman Wedyodiningrat (RJW – 992).
According to the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral Muhammad Ali, a total of 55 large and small vessels were displayed in the Sailing Pass. In addition, a Flying Pass with 25 aircraft from the Indonesian Navy was also conducted.
“The demonstration was carried out directly at sea using domestically-made military equipment,” said Muhammad Ali.
As the Sailing Pass passed by the KRI dr Radjiman Wedyodiningrat (RJW – 992), the troops were seen waving hands towards Jokowi and Prabowo who were sitting side by side.
“They waved their hands towards the President, expressing their gratitude to the President,” said the Chief of Staff of the Navy.
In this parade, the displayed KRI ships included Multi Role Light Frigate (MLRF), PKR, SIGMA type vessels, the legendary sail ship KRI Dewa Ruci, Combat Boat, and Landing Platform Dock (LPD) class KRI ships. Additionally, the submarine type KRI Cakra 401 of the Indonesian Navy was also displayed in front of the KRI dr Radjiman Wedyodiningrat-992.
As for the aircraft, they included Cassa NC-212, CN 235 MP, Piper Archer DX, Bonanza G36, Bell 505 Jet Ranger X helicopter, Panther AS565 MBe helicopter, King Air VIP aircraft, and Scaneagle UAV.
The Indonesian Navy parade was also joined by ships from the Water Police (Polairud), Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Customs, Marine Security Agency (Bakamla), Fishermen’s Affairs Agency (Basamas), Port Authority (KPLP), and Indonesian Fishing Vessels (KII). The Chief of Staff of the Navy stated that a total of around 500 more people participated on board the KRI Banda Aceh and the KRI Wahidin.
Aside from the parade demonstration, the event also included a ceremony for awarding the Samkaryanugraha honorary insignia to the KRI-Nanggala 402 and the bestowal of the Hiu Kencana emblem to President Jokowi.
The Hiu Kencana honorary emblem is a form of honor and recognition from the Indonesian Navy, especially the Submarine Unit, which is only given to individuals, civilians, or military personnel in the Indonesian National Armed Forces who have made significant contributions.
Also present at the event were the Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, State Secretary Pratikno, and the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
