Illegal logging is currently rampant in the Ngarengan Forest Management Plan (RPH) area, Dukuhseti District, Pati Regency. According to circulating information, illegal logging is openly carried out.
When contacted on Thursday (3/10/2024), one of the Forest Police (Polhut) of the Pati Forest Management Agency (KPH), Joko Wahono, admitted that they were having difficulty in capturing the perpetrators. He mentioned that the number of perpetrators was larger than the patrolling officers.
“We are trying to make arrests, but it is very difficult because of the large number of perpetrators. More than 30 people are together using motorcycles,” said Joko.
He mentioned that there were about 20 personnel patrolling. In this regard, they also requested assistance from officers from the KRPH area in Ngarengan.
“There are about 20 or so of us here in KPH, approximately. Including assistance from all KRPH in the Pati area also conducting security patrols together,” he said.
On the other hand, they have also reported to the Dukuhseti Police Station to immediately arrest the perpetrators of illegal logging.
“We continue to report to the police station. And we have reported to the Dukuhseti Police Station,” he said.
Furthermore, when asked about the number of illegally felled trees, he said that it had reached thousands of trees of various sizes. However, only tens of cubic meters were successfully confiscated.
“Yesterday’s data was around 3000 trees. What we secured in RPH Penggung and Bulungan, about 40 to 60 cubic meters were confiscated,” he concluded. (*)
