Jakarta — Prabowo Subianto, the president-elect for the 2024-2029 period, aims to execute the free nutritious meal program for school children efficiently without any leaks.
The details on how this will be realized were discussed in an exclusive interview with Prabowo conducted by tvOne titled “Prabowo Subianto Talks For Indonesia” which aired on Wednesday, (22/5) evening.
Prabowo mentioned that the budget for the nutritious meal program for students in schools has been calculated and he is optimistic about implementing it.
“We have calculated that we are capable of this. The issue of organization, we are not yet thinking about whether a specific ministry is needed or just a special agency, I think it’s not about the organization but what matters is the scheme, the system, until it reaches the children accurately,” explained Prabowo.
Prabowo stated that he is committed to ensuring there are no leaks in the implementation of the program in his future government.
“The issue is, as I have been saying for a long time, there is a phenomenon as a nation that we are aware that there are many leaks in our nation. Now, how can we create a scheme efficiently and well, without leaks reaching our children,” said Prabowo.
Regarding the distribution of free milk to children throughout Indonesia, it will also be carried out according to the specific characteristics of each region.
Prabowo gave an example in one region in Southwest Maluku, namely Moa Island, where the area often produces buffalo milk. Therefore, it is not difficult to obtain milk that can be accessed by children in the Moa region.
“And the issue of milk, we will see that it depends on the region, for example Southwest Maluku, Moa Island, they have many buffalo milk, with buffalo there, there is enough buffalo milk, there are also areas with a lot of goats, we can get goat milk and we have to look at this,” explained Prabowo.
Meanwhile, in other regions where it is difficult to obtain a source of milk, the focus can be on distributing nutritious food such as fish and eggs.
“When you look at the protein in milk, it turns out that the protein and minerals and substances in eggs are better than milk, experts have told me and eggs can be cheaper than milk in some areas, so we concentrate on eggs, on fish, and so on,” continued Prabowo.
Therefore, Prabowo emphasized that the distribution of nutritious food and free milk to children in Indonesia will be flexible according to the characteristics of each region.
“So, we have to adjust our plans to the different characteristics and conditions of each region. We should not standardize one pattern across Indonesia, there are mountainous regions, coastal regions, islands. So, we must always be flexible, the important thing is that our children get nutritious food. I think that is our goal,” Prabowo concluded.
