This article discusses the Indonesian Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, inspecting the installation of clean water pipes in Kalurahan Banyusoco, Playen, Gunungkidul, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The clean water pipes were provided by the Ministry of Defense and the Defense University of Indonesia to help communities facing a clean water crisis.
The region of Gunungkidul has been facing drought and water access issues, especially during the dry season. The clean water pipes will help with agricultural irrigation and enable the community to harvest up to three times a year, compared to only once before.
The water source in Kalurahan Banyusoco originates from a cave in the area, and work is being done on 16 clean water source points in the Cave to irrigate about 7,400 hectares of agricultural land.
Minister Prabowo had previously inaugurated clean water source points in Gunungkidul and Bantul in Central Java and has been involved in other clean water projects across Indonesia.
The event was attended by TNI and Unhan officials, highlighting the collaboration between different sectors to address clean water issues in Indonesia.
