Profesor Hikmahanto Juwana, an international relations observer, appreciates the Indonesian government’s concrete action through Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto in helping to address the emergency situation in Gaza, Palestine. He believes that Indonesia has become the most concrete country in assisting Gaza.
He praised Prabowo’s strong speech at the Emergency High-Level Conference for Gaza in Amman, Jordan, stating that Indonesia’s stance was the most genuine and bold compared to other countries participating in the conference.
Hikmahanto stated that Indonesia not only talks but also takes real action, such as being prepared to accommodate 1,000 patients and 1,000 students to be treated and educated in Indonesia. He believes that this could worry the US and Israel.
He said, “I see Indonesia’s courage will be noticed by other countries, not just mere talk and empty words, but real actions. This will make the United States and Israel worried.”
He continued, believing that these action plans could put pressure on Israel and its ally the United States to stop the genocide.
“We hope that this concern will be able to stop what Israel is doing in Gaza. This is because the United Nations, from the General Assembly to the Security Council, seems powerless against Israel’s atrocities,” he said.
Therefore, Hikmahanto hopes that Indonesia’s concrete steps through Prabowo at the Jordan conference can be followed by other countries.
“I hope that what Prabowo has done will form what we call a humanitarian coalition. What the world needs to stop Israel is humanity. I believe that if we talk about humanity, it will be supported by many parties,” he hoped.
