Hasan Hasbi, the Head of the Presidential Communications Office, firmly denies that the office will replace the role of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP). Hasan clarifies that the change in function only applies to Deputy 4 of the KSP, which has now been transferred to be part of the Presidential Communications Office.
“No, this office does not replace the KSP. I have explained before that only Deputy 4 of the KSP has changed functions and is now part of the Presidential Communications Office or PCO,” he explained after meeting with President Joko Widodo at the State Palace on Wednesday (21/8/2024).
During the meeting, Hasan also mentioned that he had asked for permission from the President to change the name of his agency. He proposed that the newly formed agency should be called the Presidential Communication Office (PCO).
“I asked for permission from Mr. President to use the name Presidential Communication Office, PCO. So, it’s not called Kompres, but the Head of PCO, Presidential Communication Office,” Hasan said.
Furthermore, Hasan revealed that President Joko Widodo had given him several instructions. One of the instructions was to promptly complete the formation and organization of the PCO.
“This includes ensuring that the secretarial support from the State Secretariat is also completed. We are working as quickly as possible to occupy the office space so we can work and finalize the organizational structure,” he added.
Hasan targets that the organizational structure of PCO will be formed within four weeks. “We will coordinate with the State Secretariat to finalize this organization,” he concluded. (A)
