Vietnam — After attending the IKN event, Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto continued his journey to Hanoi, Vietnam to meet with President Vietnam H.E. Tô Lâm on Friday (13/9).
Prabowo’s arrival at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi around 16:15 local time was warmly welcomed by Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Do Hung Viet, Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia H.E. Ta Van Thong, Director-General, South East Asia, South Asia, South Pacific Department Mr. Nguyễn Tất Thành, and Indonesian Defense Attaché in Vietnam, Colonel Navy (P) Dian Tri Hutanto.
Next, Prabowo and President Vietnam had dinner together followed by a bilateral meeting between the two countries. Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed greetings from President Joko Widodo.
“President of the Republic of Vietnam, I want to say thank you for receiving me today, I bring warm greetings from President Joko Widodo,” Prabowo said.
At the same time, Prabowo also congratulated Vietnam on its 79th Independence Day on September 2, 2024, and wished for the success of Vietnam.
“I also want to congratulate you and the people of Vietnam on the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Vietnam. I hope for continued success in building Vietnam,” Prabowo said.
During the meeting, Prabowo also expressed that Vietnam is a good friend and the two countries have a close relationship. They both committed to strengthening cooperation in various other fields in the future.
“For us, Vietnam is a great friend, we highly value this relationship, and I am committed to strengthening and expanding this cooperation. We also have a comprehensive strategic partnership that will continue,” Prabowo revealed.
At the end of the meeting, Prabowo introduced himself as the President-elect for 2024-2029 and invited President Vietnam H.E. Tô Lâm to come to Indonesia for the inauguration on October 20, 2024.
“Your Excellency, I actually came here to introduce myself to you, to report to you that I will be inaugurated as the next President of the Republic of Indonesia. I came to report to you, and if you have the time, you can come to my inauguration. It would be a great honor for my people. Thank you very much,” Prabowo concluded. (RR)
