President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, expressed his support for Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s initiative to bring hundreds of Brazilian entrepreneurs to Indonesia. This announcement came after a bilateral meeting between Prabowo and Lula at Palácio do Planalto in Brasília. Prabowo expressed optimism about the potential of this plan to enhance cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.
Highlighting the common interests and vast potential for economic collaboration between Indonesia and Brazil, Prabowo pointed out the significant population, natural resources, and biodiversity that both nations possess. He acknowledged that previous cooperation agreements often remained on paper and believed that tangible steps towards collaboration could be achieved through initiatives like the one proposed by President Lula.
Prabowo also commended Brazil’s advancements in agriculture and bioenergy, expressing interest in learning from Brazil’s experience and expertise in these fields. He appreciated President Lula’s support for Indonesia’s plan to send technical teams to study Brazil’s innovations and agricultural technologies, recognizing the value of knowledge exchange between the two countries.
In addition to discussing bilateral cooperation, Prabowo’s visit to Brazil included participation in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro. President Lula is expected to reciprocate the visit by coming to Indonesia in October, where a grand celebration is being planned to mark his 80th birthday. This exchange of visits reflects the strong diplomatic ties and commitment to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between Indonesia and Brazil.
