President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to improving the welfare of those in poverty through various flagship programs aimed at addressing immediate needs and creating a brighter future. Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono highlighted initiatives like Sekolah Rakyat, Kopdes Merah Putih, and MBG during a discussion event. The government’s goal is to break the cycle of poverty and ensure that children born into poverty do not inherit the same struggles as their parents. Education plays a crucial role in this mission.
Eradicating poverty is a top priority for President Prabowo’s administration, with ambitious targets set to eliminate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029. This goal is part of the national development agenda and will be achieved through a combination of social programs and community empowerment.
Adita Irawati from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) discussed the administration’s three-pronged strategy to combat poverty, including the People’s School initiative, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools. The CKG program has already reached 10 million Indonesians and aims to reach 50 million by the end of the year, particularly targeting schoolgirls. The Red-and-White Village Cooperatives aim to stimulate local economies, create jobs, and empower both rural and urban communities.
President Prabowo is set to launch the Kopdes Merah Putih program with a goal of establishing 80,000 cooperatives nationwide. These cooperatives serve as a model for village empowerment, enabling communities to meet their needs and generate livelihoods independently. The administration is confident that these initiatives will have a significant impact in alleviating poverty and improving the lives of the less fortunate.
