President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has coined a new term, “Greednomics,” to condemn the actions of economic elites who he accuses of exploiting the nation’s wealth without consequences. In a speech at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Congress of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Prabowo criticized the unethical economic behavior of a select few individuals. He emphasized his commitment to upholding the constitution, fighting corruption, and ensuring justice in his administration. Prabowo expressed frustration with those who persist in abusing their power despite warnings, attributing their actions to greed rather than logic. He introduced the term Greednomics to describe this new phenomenon in Indonesian political economy, highlighting it as a brand of economic conduct that is irrational and lacking ethical principles. His remarks received widespread attention for their sharp criticism of elite behavior and profit-driven economic practices that harm the Indonesian people. President Prabowo warned that those engaging in Greednomics will face consequences in due time.
