National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has decided to temporarily suspend the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) after finding substandard food in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, stated in Jakarta that the affected SPPG units will remain closed until the investigation is complete and food samples from the MBG program are fully tested in the laboratory. The agency is collaborating with independent institutions, local health, and education departments to determine the cause of the issue and is closely monitoring the health of students impacted by the substandard food. BGN expresses sincere apologies to the students, parents, schools, and all affected parties and assures that they have zero tolerance for any negligence in the supply and distribution of MBG meals that could endanger the health of beneficiaries. The agency is working with local government authorities to ensure a swift and effective response on the ground. BGN is implementing corrective measures including stricter partner screening, enhanced hygiene standards, improved food quality monitoring, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on expert recommendations. The National Nutrition Agency is committed to upholding food safety standards in the MBG Program to deliver intended benefits without compromising health, with the support and vigilance of stakeholders to ensure program effectiveness.
