President Prabowo Subianto has always had a strong bond with farmers, as shared by Dedek Prayudi, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO). This connection dates back to Prabowo’s military days and his leadership role in the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI). Recently, at the grand corn harvest event in Jenggalu Village, Seluma Regency, Bengkulu Province, Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasized the importance of the Food Security Program. The program aims to reduce Indonesia’s dependency on foreign food sources in light of global uncertainties in food supply. By providing support such as subsidized fertilizers and agricultural machinery, the government hopes to boost crop yields and motivate farmers to increase production.
During the event, Uki called for expedited administrative processes to ensure farmers can access subsidized fertilizers promptly. With only 47 percent of the allocated fertilizer being utilized by August, Uki stressed the need to optimize government resources. The National Food Agency (Pusdatin Bapanas) also expressed backing for Prabowo’s initiative, working closely with the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) to assist farmers in selling their corn harvests. By integrating supply chains for farmers and livestock breeders, the aim is to stabilize crop prices and ensure favorable market conditions for livestock products. This collaborative effort was highlighted in the presence of various local leaders, policymakers, and community representatives at the event.
