President Prabowo Subianto has made a commitment to lead Indonesia’s state budget toward a zero-deficit position. During his address on the 2026 State Budget Bill at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, President Prabowo outlined his dedication to this goal. The 2026 draft budget plans for state spending of Rp 3,786.5 trillion, with projected revenue of Rp 3,147.7 trillion. The fiscal deficit is aimed at Rp 638.8 trillion, equivalent to 2.48% of GDP, and will be financed through prudent and sustainable means.
President Prabowo expressed his administration’s commitment to implementing efficiency measures to reduce the deficit as much as possible. He aspires to announce a state budget with no deficit in the future, possibly by 2027 or 2028. The President emphasized the importance of courage and determination in eliminating budgetary leakages, urging the support of all political forces in Indonesia for this endeavor.
Creative and innovative financing will be scaled up to ensure that development funding is not solely reliant on the state budget. The budget will be designed to remain flexible in addressing global shocks, while maintaining its health and credibility through revenue optimization, improved spending quality, and financing innovation. President Prabowo highlighted the plan to boost tax revenues while preserving the investment climate and business sustainability, with fiscal incentives tailored to support strategic economic activities.
Furthermore, there will be a focus on enhancing the management of natural resources to maximize their benefits for the people’s prosperity. Every state asset will be managed efficiently to generate added value and contribute positively to the welfare of the population. President Prabowo’s vision is to strengthen Indonesia’s fiscal health through careful financial planning and strategic economic initiatives.
