Jakarta – Defense Minister of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, received a visit from the Commander of The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), General Bryan P. Fenton, along with his delegation, at the Ministry of Defense office in Jakarta on Thursday (22/8).
General Bryan P. Fenton was welcomed by the Vice Minister of Defense, M. Herindra, along with an honor guard. Subsequently, Prabowo held discussions with the US Special Operations Command and delegation in his office.
“Thank you for this honor visit. As close friends, Indonesia and the US are expected to strengthen their partnership,” said Prabowo.
“Thank you for your time, Sir. It’s a pleasure to meet and embrace you,” said General Bryan.
Previously, on November 13, 2023, in Washington DC, President Jokowi and President Joseph R. Biden of the US agreed to elevate the bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).
Therefore, this meeting aligns with that commitment, especially in strengthening the partnership in the defense sector. Indonesia also looks forward to the Indonesia-US Security Dialogue scheduled for October. This dialogue is an important platform to deepen bilateral security cooperation and address common challenges to enhance regional stability and foster mutual understanding. (RR)
