National Children’s Day in Indonesia holds more significance than merely a yearly celebration, as President Prabowo Subianto aims to use this occasion to spur tangible actions in safeguarding the future of the country’s children. The government has introduced three key programs, spearheaded by Dedek Prayudi, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office. These initiatives include Nutritious Free Meals (MBG), Free Health Checkups (CKG), and School Revitalization, all aimed at enhancing the well-being of children. MBG, or Makan Bergizi Gratis, goes beyond providing food to ensure children receive essential daily nutrition, addressing the issue of 60% of school-aged kids attending classes without breakfast. This program aims to combat issues like iron deficiency anemia, which can lead to decreased IQ levels. Alongside providing nutritious meals, the government offers Free Health Checkups for students to cover various aspects of health, in line with constitutional rights to healthcare. The School Revitalization Program targets the renovation of 11,440 schools, responding to the urgent need to address severe structural damage and lack of basic facilities. President Prabowo has allocated significant funds to improve school conditions, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and dignified learning environment for all students. These initiatives align with the government’s commitment to prioritize the well-being and future prospects of children across Indonesia.
