Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), is urging North Sumatra Province to speed up the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program by expediting the construction of more Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs). During his inspection visit to SPPG Cempedak Lobang in Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatra, Hasan emphasized the need to respond to the strong public demand for the MBG Program, especially from communities that have not yet benefited from it.
Collaboration between the central government, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), and regional leaders is essential to ensure that school children can receive free nutritious meals. Hasan also encouraged regional governments to support the development of SPPGs, particularly in disadvantaged areas and outermost regions.
In addition to governmental coordination, Hasan highlighted the importance of private sector engagement in supporting SPPG development through public-private partnerships. Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, expressed optimism that 200 SPPGs would soon be operational in the province, with a target of 1,732 SPPGs set by the central government. As of now, 77 units have been established, and the number is expected to steadily increase.
Bobby mentioned that each regency and municipality in the province is expected to build a minimum of three SPPGs as part of the regional government’s contribution. This target does not include units built by the private sector. The goal is for North Sumatra to meet the target in the near future, as progress is being made weekly towards this aim.
