Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga) Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka emphasized the importance of parents keeping up with their children’s interests and encouraging physical activities to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. Isyana shared this message during a discussion on family development’s role in preparing for Indonesia 2045, hosted by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) and Gempita in Jakarta. She highlighted the need for parents to continuously learn and stay updated with online applications as children tend to grasp new technology faster. Isyana pointed out that children often seek instant gratification through social media or online games, leading to addictive behavior. She suggested that engaging in sports, outdoor activities, and exposure to sunlight can provide the same dopamine rush. Additionally, Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan, introduced the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program, aiming to create safe and inclusive spaces for women, children, and communities to empower themselves, learn, play, and nurture creativity. Through this initiative, Tan hopes to offer children access to secure environments for traditional and creative games, sports, and opportunities to divert from gadget addiction.
